Utility Partners Knowledge Base and Expertise

Summary

The wealth of expertise in each of the specialties described below, coupled with the extensive management qualifications of the staff, has enabled Utility Partners to provide high quality products and services to the mobile data industry for 15 years. In 1985, the principals of Utility Partners architected their initial utility mobile computing solution with their first company, TTI Technologies.

With the renaming of the company  to Utility Partners in 1994, developers had the advantage of newer technologies and the opportunity to create a completely redesigned product. The Field Order Service System (FOS) was developed and was one of the first to introduce automation to the manual processes embedded in utility field service operations.

Over the years, Utility Partners has been proactive in building succeeding generations of products based on open systems architecture and new technologies. The utility engineering and technical data processing professionals at Utility Partners have succeeded in helping utilities improve their processes and apply proven and justifiable technology solutions to field operations, including our latest generation of field software, MobileUP.  In addition, we have developed a suite of energy management products called GasConnect, which was designed to manage every unit of gas through the various stages and activities of load forecasting, purchasing, nominating, scheduling, balancing and billing.

Significant ongoing investment enables Utility Partners to develop new and better solutions for its customers and ensures that products are built for today’s market and beyond. The combination of customer-focused requirements and investment dollars has resulted in a strong suite of the Work Resource Planning solution .

The introduction of MobileUP brought the Utility Partners' mobile solution into a newly-refined computing environment. Built on open systems standards, its modular structure enables easy integration of components with other systems. The user interface has evolved to make use of GUI technology by utilizing the Microsoft Windows standard. Relational database technology from Oracle has been implemented to enhance the product's ease of use and flexibility in data storage and retrieval capabilities. Utility Partners' current product offerings were developed to take advantage of the benefits of client/server and object-oriented benefits such as re-use, modularity, extensibility, and portability.

Offered in addition to MobileUP are PlanUP and WorkUP.  PlanUP delivers UP’s experience with resource management combined with an intelligent scheduling engine.  WorkUP is a complete inspection, maintenance, and construction work management tool.  When these products are integrated, they create a single solution from a single vendor.  By utilizing the latest technology, UP is able to provide the user with the capability to customize their work.

Utility Partners is committed to improving the way utilities do business in today's changing market. Deregulation is bringing about changes that are challenging utilities to think and operate in ways never thought of before. Utility Partners looks forward to assisting our clients through this time of change.

Resource Management

At the core of UP's mobile workforce management product has always been a tool to manage the availability of resources.  This intelligent tool was designed to manage all employees, contractors, vehicles, and equipment modeling, tracking and availability, forecasting, and scheduling. Recent development has established these resource management capabilities separately from MobileUP in a product called PlanUP, which can serve as an independent resource management and scheduling tool.  UP has, in addition, improved its field supervisor function to form a more robust resource management tool, available in the WorkUP product.
