UGI Utilities, Inc.  Upgrades to Version 6 of Utility Partners’
MobileUP™ Mobile Workforce Management Solution

Tampa, FL – (April 12, 2001) - UGI Utilities, Inc. has signed an agreement with Utility Partners (UP) to upgrade their current mobile data solution to Version 6 of MobileUP™ and PlanUP™.  The upgrade is already in process and the first phase is scheduled for completion in the next few weeks. Reading, Pennsylvania-based UGI has been a MobileUP client since 1997.

The release of UP’s MobileUP and PlanUP Versions 6 has raised the bar for competitors in the mobile workforce management solution industry. MobileUP offers true wireless connectivity to ensure immediate communication and full work order management of the remote workforce. It also accepts orders from any work generation system through its standard application protocol interface, which means that companies operating with another vendor’s customer information system needn’t consider a costly replacement to interface with MobileUP. 

Version 6 of MobileUP is the only mobile workforce management solution on the market that can process all types of work, from routine customer service to complex work such as construction projects, which may have dependencies or require multiple days and resources to complete.  UGI will be using this state-of-the-art solution along with UP’s browser-based, flexible design engine, FlexUP™, to customize on-screen presentations in MobileUP to suit their work types and facilities. PlanUP offers complete resource management and complex work scheduling, recognizing dependencies and multiple day work.

The enhanced functionality provided in MobileUP Version 6 will enable UGI to manage the dispatching and scheduling of all work orders for all field work forces through one solution.  According to Peter Terranova, UGI’s Vice President of Operations, “This new version supports our business goals of continuous improvement in work efficiency and customer service by providing enhanced work scheduling and tracking and allowing the use of lower cost hand-held field devices. We are looking forward to future releases, which will provide an integrated solution for an employee qualification database. ”
