Nova Scotia Power Selects Utility Partners' Software Suite
and Other Utility-Focused Products to Achieve Integrated Solution
TAMPA, FL – (May 1, 2000) – Nova Scotia Power Inc. (NSPI) has selected Utility Partners' MobileUP Software Suite to automate its work planning
offices and field-processing operations, according to Steven Radice, Vice President of Marketing for the Tampa, Florida software development company. The installation marks Utility Partners' first such venture into the Canadian
utility marketplace.
Two other key vendors partnering in the project are:
- ESRI Canada, which will provide its ArcInfo family of products as the GIS platform, and
- CES International, which will provide its Centricity Operations Resource Management System (ORMS) for trouble call/outage management
"We are delighted to be working with this prestigious group of solutions providers, and such a forward-thinking customer," said Radice. "We are
confident that together we will implement the most comprehensive, innovative utility-based solution on today's market," Radice added.
The MobileUP system is divided into four functional areas – Scheduling, Dispatching, Communications, and Field Processing. The Scheduling and Dispatching
functions provide the planner/scheduler/administrator with a feature-rich tool for managing and responding to orders in a manner that is both efficient and customer-service oriented.
MobileUP's stand-alone Communications gateway function enables peer-to-peer communications for both wireless and wire-bound devices, through the use of multiple
communications protocols or "agents."
MobileUP's Field Processing function provides the field work force with an automated method of accessing, collecting and transmitting customer and job-activity
information from the field directly to and from the office. Supervisors, dispatchers and customer service representatives can review up-to-date order and technician status as it is received from the field.
Another key component of the solution is the Utility Partners' Customer Appointment Setting (CAS) system that enables customer service representatives to set
appointments with customers while enhancing overall resource management. CAS will provide Nova Scotia Power with the information to accurately set appointments and plan future work based on real-time resource availability. CAS
is the first step in the process of more accurately planning and forecasting the work load.
Utility Partners, Inc. provides software solutions for the gas, electric and water utility industries, including mobile computing, gas management and work
management. For further information please call the UP Marketing Dept. at 1-800-280-8828.
