field dispatching system to automate MDU's service order scheduling, dispatching and communications among its dispatch office, remote field offices and fleet of field service vehicles. Additionally, MDU will implement Utility Partners'
Customer Appointment Setting (CAS) system to facilitate the order taking process at MDU's Customer Call Center.MobileUP automates the scheduling, dispatching, communicating and collecting of service order
information to and from customer service offices, dispatch offices and service technicians in the field. MDU will implement MobileUP in both gas and electric field service operations, which includes the utility's Bismarck,
North Dakota-based dispatch office as well about 200 service vehicles in the utility's service fleet. Additionally, MDU will implement the Utility Partners CAS system at its Customer Call Center. CAS gives call
center representatives the flexibility to set appointments for service work to be done. The CAS system seamlessly interfaces with MobileUP by alerting dispatchers when a service order appointment is in jeopardy of being missed.
"MDU's goals in implementing MobileUP and CAS are to centralize the utility's remote operations and facilities, to streamline order processing, and to provide enhanced customer satisfaction," said Jerry Cooley, Regional Sales
Director for Utility Partners. "The software will also enable the utility to operate even more efficiently and competitively within the deregulated utility marketplace," Cooley added. Mike Hirst, MDU's Mobile Project
Manager, stated that "improving work efficiencies at all levels has been and continues to be a major goal at MDU. To achieve this, we looked for a recognized industry leader to allow the streamlining of our business processes while
improving customer service. UP's MobileUP and CAS products, and their knowledge of the utility industry, will provide the necessary tools to complement our call center, customer information system, and resources coordination
efforts, today and well into the future." Montana-Dakota Utilities Company is the energy distribution division of MDU ResourcesGroup, Inc., serving over 250 communities in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming.
